Medical Assisting Student Works on the COVID 19 Frontlines

Chasady's desire to pursue a medical career began with her mother who was a medical assistant. Chasady’s mother was successful and passionate about her career, and she taught Chasady about the profession. So, Chasady took the critical step of applying to Rasmussen in hopes of pursuing her own career in the medical assisting field.

Rasmussen’s Medical Assistant Program had a large impact on Chasady’s journey and growth. Chasady specifically says the Medical Assistant Program Coordinator at Rasmussen was the most uplifting, encouraging and lively staff member along her journey.

“I received weekly encouragement emails from her that included an excellent uplifting quote to keep me pushing in the week, a new resource that she believes will help me succeed and all her contact information in case I need her,” said Chasady. “She continued to go out of her way many times without being asked. Without her, I do not think I could have been so confident in my studies and where I am now with my job. She has pushed me to find a great job that will suit me and the knowledge I have received from Rasmussen.”

After graduation, equipped with new skills and knowledge, Chasady applied for an AdventHealth entry level position. She received the call that she had landed the job after the interview. But that was just the beginning of Chasady’s journey.

She was later hired as a Temperature Screener as a result of COVID-19-prevention measures. She was contracted through Disney and the NBA and performed temperature screens within the NBA bubble. Chasady specifically enjoys the interaction she has with individuals in a safe and impactful way throughout her workday.

“My career will allow me to present all of the skills I have learned throughout this journey to individuals who will come to me seeking medical care and guidance,” said Chasady. “I am proud to do it and will continue to do so; I choose this path to help when it truly is needed.”

There is a considerable need for medical assistants right now, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID-19 has made it more challenging and has increased the need for people like me who are willing to put themselves out there in exposed areas to provide medical services,” said Chasady. “I encourage everyone who takes an interest in the medical field to at least put thought into becoming a medical assistant. You will not regret it.”
