What does an admissions advisor do?

As an admissions advisor I work with the admissions team and am on the front lines of talking to potential students every day. Often, talking with an admissions advisor is the first interaction prospective students have with the College. We are here to support students through the enrollment process. This includes walking people through placement exams and orientation as well as navigating financial aid and scheduling. The piece of my role that I enjoy most is the opportunity to instill a sense of confidence in prospective students. They can do it, they can advance their education and change their lives

Why do you enjoy working at Rasmussen College?

I love my work environment and my colleagues. We all get along and truly care about each other. Beyond my day-to-day interactions, Rasmussen College offers a lot of opportunities for advancement, more than your typical state college or university. The College is growing and there is an opportunity to grow with it. I am very pleased with where I am and look forward to continuing to grow with Rasmussen.

What does being named to the Women’s Leadership Program of the North Dakota Women’s Business Center (NDWBC) mean to you?

I have a very supportive campus community and when my boss recommended I apply for the Women’s Leadership Program I thought it sounded like a great opportunity and that it was worth a shot. NDWBC recently announced the fifth class of the Leadership Program for the Greater Fargo community. Participants were selected from a pool of applications submitted by women who want to connect and grow through a challenging and inspiring development experience. The Program will be six-months long and is dedicated to expanding our personal, professional and community leadership skills. 

While working at Rasmussen College full time, I was taking night classes at a local university. I am proud to say I recently graduated with my Master’s degree in Business Administration. I learned the technical skills to excel in my career but thought this Leadership Program would provide additional training on the soft skills required to be a strong leader. The program is providing me with the opportunity to branch out in the community and meet new people.

You naturally encounter new things when you are surrounded by a diverse group of people. Sometimes you don’t even know you are interested in something until you start learning about it. I am looking forward to connecting with other women in my community, learning and growing from their experiences and finding new passions as well.
