I would like to leave the legacy of perseverance and resilience.
We know life. You know, we go through trials and tribulations, obstacles. Just to show those that are watching my children and someday my grandchildren, that we can overcome adversity. That those things are, you know, not always a hindrance but sometimes a stepping stone.
You know, I was a young person. I didn't go to college right after high school. You couldn't have told me ten years ago that I would be doing something like this.
In my immediate family I'm the first one to receive a master's degree. So it's a major accomplishment and a major honor.
I have two adult children that are also here, and they are my 'why'. So I'm excited that my children get to witness this and see that even though, you know, I'm midlife, right, and I've almost 50 years old, that it's still possible. That it's never too late to do the things that, you know, that are in your heart to do.
I had previously came to Rasmussen for a bachelor's degree in healthcare management, and I knew that I eventually wanted to continue on. So when I saw that Rasmussen had a program that fit where I'm going, I jumped on the opportunity. I wasn't satisfied.
So when I received a email one day saying, hey, come back for your master's. And I knew that was a sign and now it's time.
Everything that I've learned here at Rasmussen is directly going into the business that I started where I consult small businesses and start-up marketing, business plans, strategic planning, where I'm helping other people become business owners.
I encourage busy individuals like myself to go ahead and, you know, do this! Because sometimes we want to wait until the kids are grown. Sometimes we want to wait till the kids have left home. But it's possible because I've done it. So I know that anybody that puts their mind to it, they can accomplish it as well.
