Speaker 1:

Rasmussen knows nursing.

And the first step in charting your future in the field is joining us at a Nursing Information Session.

Speaker 2 (00:09):

And we just go over all the program details. So, breaking down classes, costs, credit transfer, clinicals, scheduling, hours and expectations, different financial aid options, and then discussing the enrollment process and qualifying.

Info sessions are held, you know, during daytime hours. So, it's a great opportunity for prospective nursing students to actually see our current nursing students.

Speaker 3 (00:32):

I think a Nursing Information Session is great because you actually can come to the campus. You can see what the classrooms look like. Uh, they tour through the SIM lab. Like, days when I'm running SIM they'll, you know, they'll, they say, “Hey, can we come walk through your SIM lab?” And so they get to see what it looks like. They get to look behind the scenes and see this is where the teacher sits.

Speaker 2 (00:54):

Um, there's a chance that it'll be in one of our labs. Um, and then what we do is if there aren't classes going on in our SIM labs, we do try to get the tour of that so that prospective nursing students can actually see the SIMs.

Speaker 3 (01:07):

It's a safe learning environment in that it's okay to make mistakes. Um, where students were learning. No, nobody ever said nursing school would be easy, but it's always worth it at the end that being able to be a nurse—function as a nurse. Um, it's just such a fun career.

Speaker 2 (01:26):

Um, we just assure our students that we do have steps in place. We have internal discounts, um, so corporate partner discount, military discount, and then we have a Change A Life scholarship. So, if a student refers somebody else, that new student whose life is being changed by going to school—maybe for the first time—can receive a scholarship.

Speaker 3 (01:43):

I think people realize that it's the career to be in. It's the career. It's, it's a great career to be in. And I think that's what drives people to go back.

Speaker 2 (01:52):

Just keeping in mind that there's a variety of programs here. There's no one set path that is right. It's just students need to figure out which is gonna be the best path for them.

Speaker 1 (02:02):

Take the next step and join us at a Nursing Information Session. Regularly offered at many Rasmussen campuses.

You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the ADN program labs like in Orlando?

The Orlando campus houses four high-fidelity manikins in our four simulation rooms, each with control rooms to create an immersive experience for our future nurses. These simulation rooms are practice labs that will help you prepare for a variety of healthcare settings as a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse. Additionally, there are two skills labs with four beds each to practice skills that will be critical in your growth as a nurse.

You’ll practice on the latest medical and healthcare technology, including patient simulators. These are safe learning environments for you to practice, ask questions and collaborate with other Professional Nursing program students.

  • Where are the classrooms for Nursing program students on the Orlando campus?

The Orlando campus is located south of downtown Orlando near the Beeline and I-4 for convenient travel. The two-story building hosts two large classrooms, a student lounge and staffing space on the first floor. The second floor hosts a large classroom, two skills labs, four simulation rooms, a computer lab, and a learning and collaboration space for students to use for classes and studying.

While mainly Health Sciences and Nursing degree program students visit the campus, you may find students, graduates, faculty, peer tutors and staff from a variety of backgrounds to empower your student experience.

  • Is there programmatic accreditation?

The associate nursing program at Rasmussen University at the Ocala campus (with off-campus instructional sites in Orlando and North Orlando) located in Ocala, Florida, is accredited by the:

Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400
    Atlanta, GA 30326
    404-975-5000

The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the associate nursing program is Continuing Accreditation.

  • Are there any nursing information sessions at the Orlando campus?

Nursing Information Sessions are held virtually (unless otherwise noted) to help fit into your busy schedule. You may also have the opportunity to tour through the campus simulation lab. Upon registering for a session, further details will be shared via email by Admissions. Sign up for a Nursing Information Session to learn more.

  • What other Nursing programs are available at the Orlando campus?

The Orlando campus also offers the Practical Nursing program (LPN) and Bachelor of Science (BSN) program on campus.

After you complete your ADN program, you can then pursue an online RN to BSN degree to earn your BSN degree while having an active RN license.

BSN nurses can also pursue an online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with the choice of specializations.

The baccalaureate degree and master’s degree program in nursing at Rasmussen University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 655 K Street, NW Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

  • What is the difference between practical and professional nursing?

Practical nursing refers to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who provide hands-on nursing care, working under the direction of healthcare workers such as registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physicians. This can include monitoring patients' health, administering basic health care, reporting patient concerns and updating health records. Many LPNs work in assisted living, healthcare facilities or residential services rather than in hospitals.

Professional nursing, on the other hand, refers to registered nurses with an associate in degree nursing (ADN) or bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) who typically have a greater variety of job opportunities in the work environment. RNs often supervise others and count on their critical thinking skills to perform assessments and make judgments about patient care. RNs who complete an associate degree nursing program are more likely to work in hospitals in a variety of roles.

To learn more about the differences between Nursing degrees, check out our blog post: Practical Nursing vs. Professional Nursing: Understanding the Differences.

  • What are the prerequisites for the Associate’s degree in Nursing program?

You need a high school diploma, but unlike many other nursing schools, there are no prerequisite courses in order to enroll. There are also no wait lists at many campuses for qualified applicants. You only need to apply once and you can begin your ADN program classes when it’s convenient for you with our eight start dates a year.

  • What healthcare settings do registered nurses typically work in?

Common career paths after an ADN program are:

    • Hospitals
    • Clinics
    • Rehabilitation centers
    • Long-term care facilities
  • ADN vs. BSN: Is there a difference?

Both an associate degree in nursing (ADN) program and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) can help prepare you for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam and a career as a registered nurse (RN).

An associate degree in nursing program can be completed in a shorter amount of time and for less money. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a longer time commitment up front but results in a higher academic credential and a greater variety of common careers, including in nursing management and leadership roles.

If you choose to earn your Associate Degree in Nursing now, you can still earn a BSN through the online RN to BSN program.
